Richie’s July Blog

Hello Friends and Fans,
It is hard to believe that we are half way through 2010. I know I’m not much of a blogger but I figured since this is off time for me I’d take advantage of my free time.
I feel like the last few years I have been on ‘auto go’. From the high volume of records I’ve released to the heavy tour schedule I think this time off is a blessing.
I am very pleased that I was able to tour in the USA in 2010. We had some great moments on stage. I can only hope this leads to more USA dates. In the mean time I’ve been hitting the studio pretty hard. I’ve got 3 totally new songs recorded and finished already as well as another 10 or so in progress. It will be interesting to see if this transforms into a record what the end result will sound like.
If you noticed here at richiekotzen.com I am offering a free download. This is a re-mix version of my song ‘You Can’t Save Me’. I’m totally excited about the way this came out. I hope you dig it as well.
I also want to congratulate my good friend and drummer Demian Arriaga for landing the percussion gig for a very well know act (not sure if I can announce it yet). I had a great run playing with Demian and he will be sadly missed.
Over the next few weeks I will be auditioning drummers here in Los Angeles. The plan is to do a few more USA performances in September before we head back to Europe for a six week run. Wouldn’t it be cool if there were a new record completed by the time we leave for Europe?
And in closing I want to say how proud and impressed I am with my 13 year old daughter August. She has been participating in ‘School Of Rock’ here in Los Angels. August has performed as a singer at the Whiskey, Les Deux, and The Mint as a part of The Beatles White Album show. She is now rehearsing for their Led Zeppelin tribute show. Nice times for the little one!
Well that’s it for now!
Ciao,
- RK

  5. Hello Richie, I’m Rodrigo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I am eager to hear the new songs, recorded with banjo and mandolin …
I’m eager to hear the new album the same idea of “Peace Sign” some heavy tracks with excellent soils and a few ballads, would also be fantastic one or two tracks “Instrumental” as “Flashback” which is available on your tape “HI-tech guitar, great music …
expect their return here in Rio de Janeiro, although this year may hear misunderstandings at times, but it sure was a great show (although they missed some classics “High, Shine, Stand …”)
we look at Rio in 2011!
